The Mona Lisa is a half-length portrait of a woman that was painted by the famous artist Leonardo Da Vinci. This portrait was painted in oil on white Lombardy Panel Paper. It is an oil painting that utilizes the technique of sfumato. The painting technique sfumato overlays translucent layers of colors. The woman seems to have a smirk or smile across her face. The woman is portrayed on a background that seems to be a waterfall and trees or some type of nature scene.
To begin, there are many elements of designs in the Mona Lisa. For one, form is used. Form is used to give the women portrayed a life- like look as she is perceived as being three dimensional. The use of sfumato creates form by the strokes creating a look of depth and volume. For nearly 500 years, people have been gazing at Leonardo da Vinci's portrait of theMona Lisa with a sense of bafflement. First she is smiling. Then the smile fades. ... The Italians have a word to explain Mona Lisa's smile: sfumato. It means blurry, ambiguous and up to the imagination,The wife of Francesco del Giocondo. I like the painting because its a nice portrait of a woman and it kinda creeps me out a little. if you move it looks like she is staring at you the whole time and she is very beautiful. It is very great art work made by a famous artist that has great talent.
